Legislation & Guidance

The Department for Health has recently published draft guidance on health in Strategic Environmental Assessment. The guidance is intended to help health authorities to assess the health effects of their plans and programmes more effectively and is based on current good practice. The draft guidance can be downloaded here. Consultation on the draft ends in June 2007.

Initial research into how health issues have been addressed in the second round of Local Transport Plans reveals a good level coverage at least in terms of mentioning health and for considering the issues of access to health care, road accidents and other health determinants.
