To get the most out of SEA, its application needs to be tailored to the particular plan or programme as well as the authority responsible. With careful management, the introduction of SEA can be integrated with existing environmental monitoring and appraisal activities. It can then help to strengthen those planning and decision making processes without introducing a large additional burden.

The Centre for Sustainability (C4S) offers a practical approach and a range of consultancy services to support plan-making authorities drawing on our track record in:

  • Undertaking assessments and appraisals;
  • Training, briefings and institutional support;
  • Developing guidance;
  • Improving methods and techniques;
  • Working with other consultancies and research organisations to bring together an appropriate team;
  • Sharing knowledge and solutions from national and international experiences.

A cost effective option for many authorities is our SEA enabling service to help you organise and plan your SEA work. This includes two days work at your authority plus two months telephone support.

For more information and to discuss how the Centre for Sustainability can support your SEA needs please contact Rob Gardner on 01344 770575. Alternatively you can email us via the contact us page.
